Our why

village pop [‘pop’ hovsepian]

As early as 2017, Cameron and I had a crazy dream to start our own winery.

Each time we shared a glass of wine, time slowed down and we could be in that moment. Together. We were drawn to natural wine because of its practices, the way it made our bodies feel the next day, and its community of like-minded individuals. It seemed natural winemakers ran their business with their family alongside, kids running up and down vineyards, playing in the dirt during pop-up events; there was a focus on simplicity and togetherness, day-in and day-out. Like what we imagined it was like back in the day in the village. We wanted to create this for ourselves and for others.

And boom, Village Pop was born! Village Pop is named after Cameron’s father and my father-in-law, Hovsep ‘Pop’ Hovsepian, ethnically Armenian but straight from a village in Gharaghan now living the American Dream in Los Angeles. His father even made wine in that tiny village in Iran. Now, Pop is an inspiration to us both, a North Star of what it means to be a father [of 4 boys and 4 grandchildren as seen below], husband, and just an all-around good person. He’d do anything for anyone in his village.

Welcome to ours.

With all the love,

Rebecca [Cameron & Baby Costa]
